ALLEGED inflated valuations of three Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) investment properties that led to RM3.3 billion in hibah payments to depositors in 2017 are at the centre of criminal charges against two former senior executives.
Former chief financial officer Datuk Rozaida Omar, 63, and former chief executive Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah, 70, pleaded not guilty to a joint charge of deceiving TH board members when they appeared before Sessions Court judge Norma Ismail today.
According to the charge, the pair allegedly induced the board to approve inflated revaluations of the properties by preparing and presenting a working paper containing valuations they allegedly knew were higher than the properties’ market prices.
The valuations were included in TH’s unconsolidated financial statements for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2017.
The properties named in the charge were TH Platinum Park, TH Perdana and TH Selborne.
The alleged offence took place between 3pm and 10.30pm on Feb 9, 2018, at Menara TH Tun Razak in Jalan Tun Razak.
They were charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34, which provides for a maximum five-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction.
The court granted bail of RM60,000 each, with one surety, and fixed Dec 8 for mention and the submission of documents.
Deputy public prosecutors Datuk Nazran Mohd Sham, Rohaiza Abd Rahman and Siti Aina Rodhiah Md Shikh appeared for the prosecution.
Rozaida was represented by Shamsul Sulaiman, while Johan was represented by Datuk Shukri Mohamed and Malissa Shukri. - October 22, 2026
