THE entertainment industry has lost one of its sons today with the passing of veteran comedian Datuk Jamali Shadat.
Jamali, 78, breathed his last at 8.15am, at his residence in Kampung Sungai Pinang, Pulau Indah Port Klang. This was confirmed by his son Fauzi Jamali, 48, reported Sinar Harian.
His grandson, Isyraq Ariff Zalull Ariff, 31, told Harian Metro that the funeral process will be announced later.
Jamali had previously suffered a stroke and was under the care of his wife, Lela Yacob.
However, his condition worsened after Lela's death due to a stroke in June 2018.
Her death affected Jamali greatly because his wife had previously managed his care.
"After that ... he became dreamy and delusional. His house was next to my uncle's house, Fauzi, and they then took care of him," Isyraq said.
Jamali was most known for the role of Atan in the 1980s and his use of ventriloquism and mimicry. The multilingual performer brought people all racial backgrounds together with his brand of comedy.
Jamali, who was born in Bukit Kapar, Klang, Selangor, is survived by eight children and 39 grandchildren. – The Vibes, February 3, 2021
