GEORGE TOWN – It is a win-win situation for Penangites and the three stand-up acts coming to town this weekend as they strike a successful ‘barter’ – good food for laughs.

Laugh Kam Penang, happening on May 27 and 28 at Loft 29, will feature the three Malaysian comedy heavyweights, Joanne Kam, Kavin Jay and Bibi K Poh.

Kam, the glamorous ‘siput-lala’ connoisseur who has ventured from cracking jokes on stage, to serving Poh Poh’s Crack fresh from her kitchen, will be sharing tales of dating during the Covid-19 pandemic. Her characteristic jaw-dropping sexual innuendos will be coming hard and fast.

Comedy seems to be a family affair as Kam is also joined by her cousin, Malaysian drag performer, Bibi K Poh on the Penang stage.

“Penang gives me a warm fuzzy feeling of 'home' as I come from a heritage of Penang Nyonya.

“I am biased enough to say everything in Penang is the 'bestest', from the food, people and the hottest boys,” Bibi told The Vibes.

She will be breaking down the what and how of being a drag comedian.

Then there is Kavin Jay who has come a long way since Comedy Club KL. Never shying from the truth presented in a tummy-tickling manner, he will be unveiling what it is like trying to lose weight and surviving life during the movement control order (MCO).

Hosted by YouTuber and comedian Steven Bones, who is expected to showcase several song parodies to set the tone for the two nights.

Tickets are priced at RM68 per person and the show will start from 8.30pm The show consists of two acts with a 15-minute intermission in between. To purchase tickets, head over to https://laughkampenang.peatix.com/view. - The Vibes, May 26, 2022
