QUENTIN Tarantino has always been open about his retirement plans, stating that he intends to retire after completing 10 films, or at the age of 60.

With these milestones approaching, Tarantino is working on the script for ‘The Movie Critic’, his 10th and possibly final feature.

The Movie Critic, according to THR sources, will be set in 1970s Los Angeles and will star a female protagonist.

Others assume that the film would be about famed film critic Pauline Kael, who was known for her sharp and witty critiques that frequently challenged mainstream opinion.

However, he has denied rumors that it was a biopic of Kael and said it was not devoted to any specific film critic.

The project is not currently associated with a studio, but it might begin seeking a home as soon as this week.

"I have finished the script of what will end up being my last movie," the 60-year-old said while being questioned by Thierry Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival, at the launch of his new book in Paris on Wednesday.

"I imagine we'll probably shoot it I guess in the fall," Tarantino said.

Tarantino has directed nine films since his debut with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, assuming one includes Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 as a single feature.

His films have received both critical praise and controversy, with Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained garnering him Academy Award nominations for Best Screenplay.

While he has set strict limits on his film career, Tarantino has expressed interest in producing stage plays and books and in other creative endeavours following his retirement.

In 2021, he published his debut novel, an adaptation of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. – The Vibes, April 4, 2023
