DEWAN Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), continues with its 25th anniversary celebration this year by presenting Lochestra: Alif Satar & The Locos With The MPO.

The concert is in line with DFP’s effort in supporting music talents and giving them a platform to prove their virtuosity. Located in the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC, DFP, which can seat 920 people at one time, is renowned for its excellent acoustics.

A formidable singer/actor/host, Alif Satar has rebranded himself as a lead vocalist in a new-age and old-school pop band called Alif Satar & The Locos comprising Tam Cobain (guitar), Efry Arwis (bass), Rajwan Juni (drums) and Faliq Auri (saxophone).

Established in 2018, the band has performed at many events in Malaysia and has spread its wings to Singapore and the UK.

The group has produced singles such as I Want You To Love Me and remakes of nasyid group Raihan’s hit.

It has also recorded a single with indie singer Diandra Arjunaidi titled ‘Lelaki X Sempurna’ while its latest single, ‘Isteri’, has been chosen as the soundtrack for a TV drama ‘Risik Pada Hati’.

The group won third place at the Anugerah Juara Lagu 37 through its entry for ‘Anugerah Terindah’.

Alif Satar & the Locos will be collaborating with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).

To be helmed by Ahmad Muriz Che Rose, the group and the MPO will be presenting symphonic interpretations of songs such as ‘Hey!’, ‘Cukup Indah’, ‘Toxic’, ‘Jangan Nakal’, ‘Lelaki Seperti Aku’, ’Sesungguhnya Aku’ and ‘Akhiri Penantianku’, among others.

The concert will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 8.30pm. Lochestra will continue to affirm the MPO’s versatility which transcends genres, from classical masterpieces to film music, traditional, pop and jazz.

Alif Satar & The Locos will join the ranks of the MPO’s list of local collaborators such as Tan Sri SM Salim, Datuk Sheila Majid, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Datuk M Nasir, Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Ella and Dayang Nurfaizah.
