WORLD Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) Group Managing Director Commander (K) Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim has been officially appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM), effective from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2028.

The appointment letter was formally presented this morning by Lieutenant General Datuk Arman Rumaizi Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of UPNM, at a ceremony held at the university’s Chancellery Building.

Irmohizam, an esteemed alumnus of UPNM’s Faculty of Defence Studies and Management, holds both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy from the institution.

His appointment is seen as a significant step in reinforcing UPNM’s strategic goals, particularly in enhancing industry-academia collaboration and expanding the university’s presence in professional defence, business events, and trade development.

“I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me by the Ministry of Higher Education and UPNM. I am committed to strengthening industry-university linkages and activating alumni participation through mentorship programmes and professional networks.

“I also intend to support the lifelong learning agenda and broaden industry collaboration for the benefit of both students and academic staff,” said Irmohizam.

As an active member of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s volunteer reserve (PSSTLDM), his appointment underscores a strong alignment with UPNM’s core values of national defence readiness and strategic leadership.

His cross-sectoral experience in both the private and defence arenas is expected to bring a valuable perspective to the university’s governance and growth.

Through his leadership within the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), Dr Irmohizam is also uniquely positioned to bridge UPNM’s academic mission with global trade and professional networks.

His international engagement is anticipated to elevate the university’s profile both nationally and globally, while fostering stronger ties between the defence education sector and international commerce. - August 21, 2025
