ALL schools under four District Education Offices (PPD) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will be closed on Monday due to the haze situation.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek stated that the closure on October 12 involved schools under the Bangsar Pudu, Hulu Langat, Gombak, and Petaling Perdana PPDs.
"Schools in Melaka, Penang, Putrajaya, Labuan, Perak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis, Sabah, and Sarawak will operate as usual.
"As for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, schools under PPDs other than those mentioned are also operating as usual.
"Parents and the school community are advised to refer to official announcements from the Ministry of Education (MOE), the State Education Department (JPN), and the District Education Office (PPD) for the latest updates," she said in a Facebook post today.
It was earlier reported that State Education Directors would issue daily announcements regarding school operational status based on Air Pollutant Index (API) readings released by the Department of Environment (DOE).
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has directed State Education Directors to establish a Haze Monitoring Task Force for this purpose. – October 11, 2026
