10-tonne truck ploughs into 11 vehicles: Police probe possible brake failure
Police investigate suspected brake failure that caused the lorry to career downhill into vehicles waiting at a traffic light in Shah Alam - October 11, 2026

POLICE are investigating suspected brake failure and drug use by a lorry driver after a 10-tonne truck crashed into 11 vehicles at the Alam Budiman traffic-light junction along Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari on Friday.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said the 4.20pm crash was believed to have occurred when the lorry developed brake problems while descending a hill from Puncak Perdana towards Puncak Alam.

The lorry then veered into the opposite lane and ploughed into 11 vehicles stopped at the traffic lights.

The 51-year-old driver was arrested after a urine screening test returned positive for amphetamine or methamphetamine, Sarudin said.

A woman, 53, and her 17-year-old grandson, who were travelling in one of the vehicles, were treated at Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Alam, and were reported to be in stable condition.

Another victim, a 29-year-old Perodua Myvi driver, sustained bodily injuries and was also in stable condition.

Sarudin said the case was being investigated under Section 44(1A)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - October 11, 2026
