The Prime Minister says the RM510 billion MADANI Budget allocates billions for healthcare, rural development and vulnerable groups - October 10, 2026

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has positioned Budget 2027 as a direct investment in Malaysians’ welfare, with billions of ringgit channelled towards healthcare, rural infrastructure, farmers and vulnerable communities to ensure economic development delivers tangible benefits to the people.

Anwar said the RM510 billion fifth MADANI Budget, tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday, was intended to improve living standards and ensure that no segment of society was left behind.

“Among the key measures is a combined RM34.9 billion allocation for Sabah and Sarawak, comprising RM18.7 billion for Sabah and RM16.2 billion for Sarawak, alongside RM3.3 billion for rural roads, street lighting and access to clean water and electricity, he said in a recent Facebook post.

Healthcare workers and patients are also set to benefit, with incentives for medical personnel, funding to reduce waiting times and plans to absorb 9,000 contract doctors into permanent positions.

The government has allocated RM1.5 billion for persons with disabilities and RM445 million to improve the welfare of Orang Asli communities, while RM2.3 billion will fund the construction and maintenance of quarters for police personnel, doctors, military personnel, teachers and firefighters.

For the agricultural sector, paddy farmers will receive assistance of up to RM4,300 per hectare per season, while aid for fishermen and smallholders will be increased.

Social protection will be extended through the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) to include imams, bilals, mosque caretakers and maintenance workers, as well as takmir religious teachers.

An additional RM3.1 billion has been allocated to support Islamic affairs and activities.

The budget also introduces a measure requiring drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs to compensate their victims, strengthening accountability for offences that cause harm to others.

Anwar said the government machinery would work to translate the budget’s initiatives into meaningful outcomes for Malaysians. - October 10, 2026
