KUALA LUMPUR – Education institutions in Kedah and Kelantan will resume operations on October 31, while those in Penang, Perak and Sabah will reopen on November 1, said the Education Ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said the resumption outlined in Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) includes preschools, special needs students (primary, secondary and vocational) and integrated programmes for special education, Form 6 students in their second semester, pre-university for sports schools, exam classes at all schools, International Baccalaureate Diploma, and international exam classes.
Once states move into a new phase, the ministry’s guidelines will kick in two weeks post-announcement, it said.
“Operations at education institutions under the ministry in Kedah, Kelantan, Penang, Perak and Sabah will continue as Phase 2 on October 18.
“However, operations for these institutions in Kedah and Kelantan will be based on Phase 3 from October 31, and Penang, Perak and Sabah starting November 1.”
Similarly, the policy applies to Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Melaka, which will enter Phase 4 tomorrow.
Operations at education institutions in these four states will remain for now, with changes made only from November 1. This includes the resumption of in-person classes on a rotation basis.
Students in Years 1, 2 and 3, and Forms 3 and 4 will resume physical classes starting November 1, while those in Years 4, 5 and 6, and Forms 1 and 2 will do so from November 8.
