LABUAN – Labuan Vocational College is aiming for at least 70% of its graduates to be employed as skilled workers in various industries, said its director Siti Muslihah Leeudin.
She said some 20% of its students were expected to pursue higher education, about 10% would go on to become young entrepreneurs and the rest would work in other sectors.
“For the record, 85% of our graduates were employed, 13% went for further studies and 2% became entrepreneurs.
“Our efforts must be in line with the government’s focus on improving the national education system in the next five years, as it will help cultivate more talents with the rise of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0),” she said after Labuan Vocational College’s sixth graduation ceremony for 89 graduates at the college hall today.
Siti Muslihah said the college has been working closely with a number of local contractors and companies in various sectors for its internship students to undergo industrial training to gain hands-on experience.
“Labuan Vocational College is working in tandem with the government’s efforts to increase skilled workers tailored to the increasing demand of skilled employment and promoting the development of a knowledge-based economy,” she said.
Siti Muslihah said it would continue to increase the number of students enrolling for various programmes in the college.
“We are introducing culinary programmes only in 2024, as a new building for the class and training centre is still under construction,” she said. – Bernama, February 20, 2022
