KUALA LUMPUR – The Education Ministry has entrusted schools in the country to manage and distribute the RM150 early school aid, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to their students.
In a frequently asked questions (FAQ) list released by the ministry, it said the allocation will be channelled to the “Kumpulan Wang Kerajaan” school accounts, with the schools then required to distribute the funds to their students.
It noted that the funds would be disbursed to students either via cash or credited into bank accounts.
“The allocation for the aid will be credited to the schools’ accounts beginning January 12, 2023 and the schools are asked to distribute the assistance to the students as soon as they receive the funds,” it said.
According to the FAQ, students need not fill up any documents to obtain the aid.
The ministry added that the aid will be given to all Malaysian students at both primary and secondary levels for the 2023/2024 session.
Students from government and government-aided schools, religious schools, private education institutions registered with the government, Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih, Sekolah Integriti and Henry Gurney schools are eligible for the aid.
Previously on December 20, when tabling the government’s mini-budget in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar had announced RM150 in early school aid which will be given to all students next year, regardless of household incomes.
“There is no condition set on incomes as this will delay the disbursement of funds.” – The Vibes, December 22, 2022
