THE government will continue to strengthen the reform agenda to stop the practice of embezzling the country's wealth, in addition to ensuring the results of development can be enjoyed more fairly by the people.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that efforts to save the country from practices that harm the people must be followed by improvements to the administrative system and process so that wealth is not excessively distributed to certain parties.
"Therefore, we will save this country. How do we save this country? Stop the practice of embezzlement. We want to correct the process.
"We must stop the practices of distributing excessive wealth to certain people that have never been published or made the subject of proper debate before.
“In these three years, we have ensured political stability, maintained security and a growing economy.
“Now, we must continue with the reform agenda more firmly in several matters that are still pending,” he said in his policy speech at the PKR 2026 National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), today.
According to the PKR President, the political stability, national security and economic growth achieved in the past three years must be the basis for the government to continue with the reform agenda more firmly.
He said the reforms implemented by the government were not only focused on the administrative and economic aspects, but also covered the education sector to ensure that future generations would have better opportunities.
Meanwhile, he stressed that efforts to improve the system and implement reforms must be done continuously to ensure that the stability that has been achieved can be strengthened.
Anwar said the government cannot be satisfied with the achievements that have been achieved so far because there are still matters that require reform and improvement.
He said the reform agenda must be implemented by taking into account the interests of the people and ensuring that the country's institutions and administrative systems continue to be strengthened.
He said that efforts to stop corruption, abuse of power and unfair distribution of wealth are part of the process of building a better country.
“For me, the main thing is to ensure political stability, ensure the country is safe and ensure the economy grows. Now, we continue with the reform agenda more firmly,” he said.
He also stressed that any action against those suspected of committing wrongdoing must be taken based on the legal process, not accusations or perceptions.
“Let’s not keep pointing fingers. Let the enforcement agencies investigate professionally," he said.
According to him, strict action must be continued against those who are proven to have violated the rules, stolen property or betrayed the people's trust.
Anwar said, at the same time, the government must ensure that every administrative process is improved to close the gap for leakage and misuse of national wealth.
He said the political stability currently enjoyed gives the government room to continue the reform agenda more boldly for the benefit of the people and the future of the country.
He said education reforms are being implemented, including providing exposure to children at an early stage in the digital and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
"Education reforms are being carried out, including providing exposure to children at an early stage in the digital and STEM fields as well as providing preschool for all," he said.
Anwar said access to quality education must be given fairly regardless of whether a child lives in an urban, rural or remote area.
"Preschool cannot only be quality for children in the city, while children in the interior and villages receive second-class education," he said. -August 15, 2026
