PUTRAJAYA – The Education Ministry will immediately channel emergency funds to repair 36 schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor damaged by last Friday’s storm.

In a statement today, the ministry said the allocations will be channelled to the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Education Departments.

There were 27 affected schools in Kuala Lumpur and nine in Selangor, the ministry said.

It said both the KL and Selangor Education Departments, and district education offices, will conduct a further evaluation on the damage at the affected schools with help from the Public Works Department.

“(The Public Works Department) will then submit the evaluation report with the estimated cost and the allocation for the maintenance work will be made to (the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Education Departments) immediately,” the statement read.

The ministry said that the KL and Selangor Education Departments and district education offices will carry out the repair and cleaning work immediately to enable lessons to continue without any disruption. – Bernama, May 21, 2023
