KUALA LUMPUR – Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Muslims all over the world have had to commemorate Hari Raya Aidiladha quietly for the past two years.
Not only are Malaysians restricted from performing their pilgrimages to Mecca, but those already in the city are unable to perform their normal prayers properly.
Congregations attending mosques for prayers are limited, and sacrificial rituals cannot be performed within mosque grounds.
While some states have increased mosque attendance limits, others have continued to impose limits on those wishing to perform Aidiladha prayers due to outbreak fears.
Hari Raya Aidiladha, widely known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s AS willingness to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail AS as an act of obedience to God’s commands.
These days, the festival requires many sacrifices in whatever one does, with people being asked to make sacrifices in all their daily practices by adhering to various standard operating procedures.
Despite the fact that the enhanced movement control order in the Klang Valley was lifted last Saturday, the state remains in Phase One of the National Recovery Plan.
As a result, Aidiladha prayers and sacrificial rites are carried out in accordance with stringent SOPs.
