Police deploy drones to check on SOP compliance in public areas

KUALA LUMPUR – It is difficult for authorities to keep an eye on the public after most states transitioned into latter phases of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) that grant more freedom.
With more business premises opening, people are starting to go out after being “confined” for so long under various movement control orders (MCOs).
With the increasing movement of people in public areas and open spaces, it has been a challenge for the authorities to monitor compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Although most states will soon enter Phases 3 and 4 of the NRP, the Covid-19 daily tally remains above 9,000, with an average death toll of 100 people a day.
So, to aid the authorities, especially police, to check the people’s movement, drones are being deployed to provide real-time images of those who do not comply with rules and SOPs.
