KUALA LUMPUR – Families and relatives of the Elmina plane crash victims gathered at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital yesterday to provide DNA samples for identification.

Present to console and lend support to the victims was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was also accompanied by his deputy, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The forensics department had set up a tent where family members could wait before providing their DNA samples.

Among the eight victims was Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment And Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail were also there to lend support.

It was a very sombre time as families of victims were seen hugging each other, while others were seen sitting alone trying to come to terms with what had happened.

The names of the eight people on board were earlier released by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, based on the flight manifest.

Two road users, one who has since been identified, also perished in the incident.
