THE actress from the film Syaitan Munafik and Kudeta, Nadia Kesuma, reportedly could not be traced after arriving at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah.
The news was shared by her good friend, who is also the President of Gagasan Transformasi Anak Seni (GTAS), actress Anne Abdullah.
Anne, when contacted, said Nadia boarded a flight on Wednesday night through a travel agency for a special umrah package to the Holy Land, including a trip to London.
"Upon arriving in Jeddah, she sent a message to her husband informing him of her safe arrival. After that, she was supposed to board a plane to London.
"But the travel agency told me that she did not board the plane to London. Now her cell phone cannot be reached.
"Her husband was the one who was worried and called me. So now, the question is whether she is in Jeddah or somewhere else, because she did not board the plane to London.
"She was travelling alone. We checked near Jeddah. Indeed, her name is there, but she did not even check in to go to London," she told Harian Metro.
Anne did not rule out the possibility that Nadia got off at the airport and then faced some problems.
"But before that, she had a message to her husband, she said something like "I met a stranger", and then there was no news. Now both her cell phone messages are 'delivered', but she is not responding.
"Her husband has been worried and called me. I was surprised because I thought that she was going with her husband. Apparently, she went alone with the travel agency,” she said.
Anne said she would go to the police station to lodge a report as soon as possible to help track Nadia's true whereabouts.
Hand luggage found at the airport in Jeddah
In a latest development, Nadia’s luggage was reportedly found at King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah, but her whereabouts remain unknown.
Anne said the discovery of the bag further heightened concerns because the actress was supposed to carry the luggage herself as a 'hand carry' during transit before continuing her flight to London.
“I understand now that we have found her bag, her hand luggage has been found, we found it at Jeddah airport. The bag is there, but she is not there.
“It is understood that the red bag was found last night by the relevant parties there (Jeddah),” she told Berita Harian.
Anne said that Nadia arrived in Jeddah at around 6am and was scheduled to board a transit flight to London two hours later, with a two-hour transit period that allowed passengers to do free activities such as eating and praying before regrouping at the departure gate.
However, when the check was carried out by the travel agency, Nadia was found not to be at the departure gate and could not be located despite announcements made several times at the airport.
“The travel agent checked that she was not there… searched and made announcements at the airport several times, she was indeed not there,” she said.
She explained that the process of filing a police report can only be done after a period of 24 hours, and further action, such as checking closed-circuit camera recordings (CCTV) at Jeddah airport, cannot be done earlier.
