TEN districts across Peninsular Malaysia have been placed under a Level 1 hot weather alert as of 4pm, signalling continued high temperatures and prompting a public advisory to remain vigilant.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the affected areas include Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas and Machang in Kelantan, along with Jerantut, Temerloh and Maran in Pahang.
Additional districts under the alert are Kinta in Perak, Gombak in Selangor, Jempol in Negeri Sembilan and Segamat in Johor.
MetMalaysia clarified that a Level 1, or “alert” status, is issued when daily maximum temperatures reach between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
