JOANNE Vengadesan, who began her journey as a lawyer in 1997, was recently elected as a future chair of one of the leading law firm networks in the world, Multilaw, at the Multilaw Global Conference in Prague earlier this month.

Multilaw has regularly been ranked as an "elite" law firm network, a testament to the high quality of law firms across the world who are members of this network.

Multilaw is a global network of law firms with 300 offices in over 100 countries — a geographical reach greater than any global law firm.

Joanne, still a proud Malaysian, is settled in the United Kingdom with her family.

She is now a partner at leading international firm Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP, which is headquartered in London and also has several national UK offices, and offices in Spain, France, Greece and Singapore.

Within her firm, she leads the Technology Sector group, specialising in artificial intelligence, technology and data.

She has developed a reputation as a leading expert within the UK in this field, regularly recognised in the independent legal directories for her cutting-edge work.

She remains closely connected with Malaysia, having spoken at knowledge-sharing sessions on digital transformation and AI matters at the Malaysian Bar on several occasions at the invitation of their Legal Tech, AI and Sandbox Committee.

The Multilaw Chair-Elect role is a 2-year term, which will commence in September 2027. Joanne will follow on from the current chair, Paul Kirton, from Australian member firm Macpherson Kelley.  – October 23, 2026
