AFTER months of planning and preparation, the digital festival will be streamed online to 80 countries, as well as via live broadcasts from Penang, from today to Friday.
With over 180 on-demand sessions from at least 140 global experts featuring insights from industry leaders, new innovative business models and inspiring success stories, Techfest Live is packed with powerful messages from people who are forging forward, spurred by tech.
More than 100 exhibitors from various countries are participating and the current festival delegates signup exceeds 2,300 industry leaders and decision makers.
The festival is being successfully held with the assistance of the Penang government, despite the difficulties that come with holding any event during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some highlights include, global conversations about Smart City Development, 5G, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Growth, eSports and a celebration of Asian startups.
In addition, there will be 2020’s ‘Featured Innovations’ where products, services and start-ups will be showcased on a home-shopping-talk-show format called the Tech Marketplace.
There will be keynote addresses from Dr. Soumitra Dutta Professor of Management and the former founding Dean of the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University, New York (Nov 18, 7.30pm/Astro Hello Channel 702).
Douglas Comstock, Deputy CFO of Nasa who will speak on the ‘Commercialisation of Space’ (Nov 19, 9pm/ Astro Hello Channel 702).
There will also be discussions on technological trends from over 140 speakers, including Carlos Alimurung, CEO of ONE Esports; Kok-Chin Tay Chairman of Smart Cities Network (Singapore); Nancy Giordano, Founder/CEO or Play Big, Inc (United States); among others.
Penang has been gearing up for Techfest for some time, adopting tech solutions including digital payments and 5G.
For the last few months, more than 1,500 merchants have gone cashless. Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and YTL spent RM10.65 million on 5G use case demonstrations in six live sites in Penang covering tourism, smart cities, education, agricultural, as well as manufacturing and processing.
All conversations will be broadcast live from Wisma Yap Chor Ee, in George Town, Penang, via ASTRO, as well as online streaming to a global audience in 80 countries.
