TAN Sri Michelle Yeoh earlier this week as she blazed a trail by becoming the first Asian woman to win the Best Actress Oscar for the lead role in science fiction adventure Everything Everywhere All At Once.

After hoisting the gold statuette on the big stage – watched and applauded by the biggest stars in Hollywood – Yeoh attended a very swanky after-party with her goddaughter Dee Poon, the daughter of her ex-husband Hong Kong business tycoon Dickson Poon.

Dee shared a few candid pictures of the celebration following the historic win on her Instagram, many featuring the 60-year-old Ipoh born movie star.

One picture has Yeoh posing with Everything Everywhere co-star and Best Supporting Actor winner Ke Huy Quan, who were all smiles as they showed off their Oscars.

The last picture, which might have been taken in the morning after, is more relaxed than the big night.

Yeoh is packed together with her partner, French racing executive Jean Todt, Dee’s mother, chairwoman of Esquel Group, Marjorie Yang – Dickson’s first wife – along with Dee, and others.

Yeoh famously met Dickson on the set of Yes, Madam in 1985 as she was establishing herself as a star in Hong Kong cinema. She was the lead of the movie, while Dickson was its producer.

The pair married in 1988, but divorced just three years later. Yeoh took a break from acting but returned with force in 1992’s Supercop.

Despite the split, Yeoh said in an interview with Bustle that there was no bad blood between them. – The Vibes, March 15, 2023
