Parliament to wind up debate on anti-smoking bill

THE Dewan Rakyat will today wind up the debate on the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa will wind up the debate before the bill is put to a vote. Twenty-six MPs took part in the debate yesterday.

The bill seeks to ban the sale and purchase of tobacco products, smoking materials, tobacco substitute products, or the provision of any service for smoking to minors.

Meanwhile, the matter of floods is also expected to be discussed at today’s sitting.

According to the Order Paper on the parliament website, Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Rantau Panjang-PN) will bring up the problem during ministers’ question time.

She will ask the prime minister about the immediate measures taken by the government to care for the the welfare of evacuees at the shelters.

Lim Guan Eng (Bagan-PH) will question the tourism, arts and culture minister about the impact of the visa exemption for tourists from China and India.

The current session ends today after 32 days of sittings that started October 9. – Bernama, November 30, 2023.
