BARISAN Nasional (BN) candidate and incumbent for the Tanjung Bidara state constituency, Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh, arrived at the nomination centre this morning, accompanied by BN Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Earlier, an estimated crowd of thousands of BN supporters clad in blue and having gathered as early as 7 am marched for about 100 metres while waving party flags and chanting slogans, escorting Ab Rauf as he approached the nomination centre grounds.

Prior to this, his opponent, Mohd Yunazri Mustamiri from Pakatan Harapan (PH), arrived at the nomination centre at 8:20 am.

The 36-year-old, who serves as the secretary for the PKR pro-tem committee in Masjid Tanah, was seen entering the nomination centre at 9:06 am.

Tanjung Bidara is one of the seats in the spotlight during this state election, as Ab Rauf seeks to defend the seat he won by a narrow margin in the 2021 Melaka state election.

In that three-way contest, Ab Rauf, who also serves as the Melaka BN Chairman, secured 3,559 votes, defeating his two rivals, Datuk Mas Ermiyati Samsudin and Zainal Hassan, by a margin of 364 votes. – October 31, 2026
