PERUSAHAAN Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) said a thorough investigation is underway over the Perodua Bezza car that malfunctioned within eight hours after being purchased by a clerk.

Perodua Sales chief operating officer JH Rozman Jaafar in a statement, said they have been in constant contact with her since October last year.

"Since then, we have taken several actions to resolve the matter, including offering her a courtesy car, while we also proposed to buy back her car," he said.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding," he added.

It was earlier reported that Nagakanni Subramaniam's brand-new car, a Perodua Bezza 1.3X, broke down just eight hours after she collected it.

Nagakanni, who spoke of her plight on Facebook, said it has now been two months since the incident and she has been paying RM537 monthly for the loan.

“I bought the car from Harapan Terang Motor Sdn Bhd on October 17, last year and eight hours later, at 7.40pm, the car could not start.

“The next day, my car was towed to the Segamat Perodua Service Centre,” she said.

She said she asked Perodua to replace her car with a new one but was told to wait for a decision from their headquarters which would take up to a month.

"Perodua assures customers that her case is being prioritised and we deny any allegations that no action has been taken to resolve the issue," said Rozman.

He said a thorough investigation is underway and Perodua will share the details in due time.

Following the statement by Perodua, Nagakanni said in another post on Facebook that there was still no solution to the problem.

"I want to thank everyone who helped share my plight. However, I want to correct some issues. Regarding the courtesy car, Perodua's solution was for me to buy another car by submitting a new loan.

"What guarantee do I have that Perodua will buy back my first car and that I no longer have to pay that loan?

"If Perodua is willing to buy back my first car, then please state it in black and white. Please do not make a media statement when my problem is not resolved. I just want a solution, not any misunderstanding or for this matter to go viral," she added. – The Vibes, January 4, 2024
