A YOUTH leader from a political party in Johor is expected to be charged tomorrow over sexual assault involving several teenage boys.

Mersing police chief, Abdul Razak Abdullah said investigation papers have since been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office and the case is expected to be brought to court tomorrow.

The suspect is expected to be charged at the Kota Tinggi court and the case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent.

The offence carries a maximum of 20 years in jail and whipping upon conviction.

According to a copy of a police report which has since gone viral on social media, three police reports involving four victims were lodged on March 19.

A copy of the report which was also uploaded on the whistleblower account Edisi Siasat said investigations revealed that all four victims were regularly taken by the suspect to participate in volunteer programmes.

The suspect was active in such programmes and those involving non-governmental organisations.

The report further stated that police detained the suspect on March 19 from his house and he was remanded from March 19 to 21.

Two other police reports were lodged by two victims earlier yesterday, making it five reports involving six victims in total.

"After two police reports were made by two victims yesterday, we received three more reports by four individuals.

"This makes five reports received involving six victims," said Abdul Razak.

All the victims have since been asked to undergo medical examinations at a district hospital in Johor. - The Vibes, March 20, 2024
