KOTA KINABALU – Overseas visitors hailing from high-risk countries with high numbers of Covid 19 cases who need to enter Sabah are barred, except for those falling under three specific categories.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said there were three exemptions allowed for such travelers from the 23 high-risk countries.
“These are for duly accredited diplomats, key oil-and-gas sector staff and those who have family relations with Sabahan residents who wish to return home to the state.”
He said those not under the three categories listed above are barred from coming to Sabah.
As for citizens from countries outside of the 23 high-risk list, they can apply to come to Sabah by applying to the Immigration Department director-general for permission.
“They can go online to the Immigration Department website for guidelines on how to do so,” he said at a press conference today.
At present, citizens from 23 countries namely the United States, Brazil, India, Russia, Peru, Colombia, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Iran, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, France, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Iraq, the Philippines and Indonesia are barred from entering Malaysia. – The Vibes, December 16, 2020
