PERLIS Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli was questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, who confirmed this, said they were investigating allegations against Shukri’s son.

“My officers also want Mohd Shukri to answer several allegations against him,” Azam said, adding that he did not rule out the possibility that the menteri besar may be arrested under Section 53 of the MACC Act.

Azam said investigators will determine if Shukri will be detained further after his statement.

A recent post on Shukri’s official Facebook page stated that he was allowed to go home after having his statement recorded by the MACC and was not remanded.

“MB was not remanded. He was allowed to go home after providing his statement,” read the statement posted by the administrator.

Recently, Shukri, 63, said he would leave it to the MACC to investigate his son, who was detained for allegedly falsifying claims amounting to RM600,000 over government public works contracts.

Shukri, who is also the Perlis PAS commissioner, said he will not interfere and he leaves it to the MACC to investigate his son. – April 30, 2024
