Bersatu, Muda leaders hold talks amid uncertainty over PN
BERSATU secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali met with Muda’s top leadership yesterday, as uncertainty continues over Bersatu’s position in Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Azmin said the meeting focused on efforts to promote “value-based politics” and policies aimed at improving the well-being of Malaysians.
In a Facebook post, he said he welcomed the views put forward by Muda leaders on the country’s future.
“I welcome the views from Muda’s leadership to build a better future for Malaysia,” he said.
Azmin said Bersatu and Muda, both relatively young parties, shared similarities in their political outlook, including an emphasis on moderate and progressive politics and issues concerning the people.
He said the discussion also touched on developing a political approach based on values and one that would serve Malaysians regardless of their background.
Bersatu vice-presidents Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammad Radzi were also present.
The meeting comes amid questions over Bersatu’s future in PN, following growing differences within the opposition coalition.
On July 17, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the party would form a new coalition after the Negeri Sembilan state election, which he described as potentially “greater” than PN.
Muhyiddin said the proposed coalition could include parties under Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR), including Putra and Parti Bersepakat Hak Rakyat Malaysia (Urimai).
Bersatu’s meeting with Muda comes as the party weighs its political options and looks beyond its existing alliances ahead of the next general election. – September 3, 2026
