THE organiser of the Good Vibes Festival has taken legal action against British band The 1975 for its antics during a performance in Sepang, Malaysia last year.
The lawsuit was filed against all members of the band individually in a UK court following a controversial onstage incident involving lead vocalist Matty Healy.
According to the court documents sighted by American entertainment magazine Variety, Future Sounds Asia is seeking RM11.25 million following the shutdown of the festival due to Healy’s actions.
The media reported that the band’s performance at the Good Vibes Festival 2023 was stopped after vocalist Healy allegedly acted disrespectfully in front of fans.
Healy reportedly held a bottle of alcohol on stage and also criticised Malaysia’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) laws.
The organisers claimed the band and its management were aware of the numerous prohibitions imposed on their performance in Malaysia. – July 31, 2024.
