PETALING JAYA – The organiser of the 2023 Good Vibes Festival (GVF) took to social media to announce their refund mechanism for ticket holders.
This follows the cancellation of the festival on Day 2 back in July after a British band, The 1975, sparked controversy on stage during their set on Day 1. The 2023 GVF was supposed to have been a three-day music festival.
Announcing the link for ticket holders to submit their refund request, Future Sound Asia is providing several other options apart from a full refund.
“If you can spare or defer any amount of your refund, it would be greatly appreciated and go a long way towards helping to #SaveGVF,” they said in a statement.
They implored ticket holders to bear in mind that they want to be able to continue organising the festival in years to come.
There are four refund options, with three of them being part of Future Sound Asia’s efforts to “save the festival”.
Under option 1, ticket holders can request for a partial refund and contribute the remainder of the amount to #SaveGVF.
As for option 2, ticket holders can choose to forfeit their entire amount and will instead be compensated with a ticket to next year’s GVF or the following year, with a RM100 beverage voucher.
Option 3 will see ticket holders forfeiting their refund without converting it into a ticket and the entire amount will go towards #SaveGVF.
Option 4 is for those who wish to get a full refund.
This plea, however, is not sitting well with many. Among the comments directed at the organisers were that it was their fault for not doing proper research prior to inviting the band.
“We are not obliged to save your festival. Full refund please,” said one Instagram user.
Another user slammed the statement as “begging”.
“Your event failed because your management didn’t do a good job,” he said.
Meanwhile, many others pointed out that a full refund option was available and that Future Sound Asia was merely giving other options to ticket holders who wished to help them out. – The Vibes, August 15, 2023
