PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has extended his deputy Jagdeep Singh Deo’s leave by four days.

Jagdeep was to have returned to work today.

Chow said Jagdeep had asked to prolong his break on his doctor’s advice.

“I have agreed to extend his leave until August 9 to allow Jagdeep to continue his necessary treatment,” he said in a statement today.

Jagdeep, who is in his fourth term as the Datok Keramat assemblyman, was on leave to spend time with his sons and to seek a second opinion on an ankle injury and psoriasis.

He injured his ankle after slipping and falling last year, resulting in surgery at Gleneagles Hospital.

He also underwent a cataract procedure earlier this year.

Jagdeep is the first Punjabi to assume the office of deputy chief minister II. His brother, Gobind Singh Deo is the digital minister. Another sibling, Ramkarpal Singh Deo was a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department. – August 5, 2024.
