KUALA LUMPUR – The government has decided to extend the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur until December 31.
However, the CMCO extension in Selangor will not apply to the districts of Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor.
Senior Security Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri added that 22,321 cases were detected in Selangor until December 17, while only 9,426 infections were recorded in Kuala Lumpur until that date.
“The Health Ministry has informed us that there is an increase in cases in Kuala Lumpur among migrant workers, and test results from work areas show new clusters in the area.”
Meanwhile, the CMCO in Negri Sembilan has ended, except the districts of Seremban and Port Dickson.
For the two districts, the CMCO will be extended to December 31.
Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry has detected infections every day in the two districts, involving a few clusters.
Also, with regards to the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) placed on the Seremban Prison, 1,036 cases were detected among prison staff and detainees.
However, 325 samples are still awaiting results.
Thus, based on consultation with the Health Ministry, the National Security Council (NSC) decided to extend the EMCO in the prison until December 31.
As for Johor, most of the state is already in the recovery movement control order (RMCO), with the exception for Johor Baru, Batu Pahat, Kulai and Kota Tinggi.
However, the NSC has decided to end the CMCO in Kota Tinggi on December 20, after the Health Ministry recorded a reduction of cases in the district.
However, Johor Baru, Kulai, and Batu Pahat will have their CMCO extended until December 31.
Ismail Sabri said that as there is a rise of infections detected in Kluang Prison, Johor, the NSC has imposed EMCO beginning tomorrow until December 31.
