THE Federal Territories Pardons Board’s official records on Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s case does not contain any additional document or addendum, its secretariat confirmed today.
The legal affairs division of the Prime Minister’s Department, which serves as the secretariat of the FTPB, said this followed checks on its official records.
“We confirm that no additional document or addendum is in our official files or records under the Prime Minister’s Department’s legal affairs division.
“Neither did we receive any official order or notification from Istana Negara regarding the matter,” it said in a statement.
The secretariat’s announcement today came amid Najib’s claims that the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong had added on a document or addendum to the Pardons Board’s January 29, 2024 decision.
Najib had claimed the alleged addendum would enable him to serve the rest of his reduced six-year jail sentence under house arrest.
The division warned that those who made statements which could mislead the public concerning the position or role of the FTPB could face legal action.
It said this was necessary to preserve the integrity of the board and to ensure members of the public are provided with accurate information.
Meanwhile, Federal Territories (FT) Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa denied that she hid anything regarding the royal addendum allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his jail sentence under house arrest.
"I'm not the government spokesperson regarding this matter. I'm not the spokesperson for the Pardons Board," said Zaliha, who is also a member of the FT Pardons Board (FTPB).
"I have heard accusations towards me regarding whether I hid the addendum. I speak for myself. I'm not hiding anything. I don't want to say anything more," she said. - January 10, 2025
