A VILLAGE Development and Security Committee (JPKK) chairperson from Sabak Bernam has been remanded for four days on suspicion of misusing public funds by transferring money from the committee’s account into her personal account.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Selangor, in a statement today, confirmed the remand order was issued by the Shah Alam Magistrates’ Court this morning. The suspect, a woman in her 40s, was detained yesterday afternoon while giving a statement at the MACC Selangor office.
Magistrate Noora Nisa Ngadirin granted the four-day remand, which will run until 26 April.
According to sources, preliminary information suggests that other JPKK chairpersons in the same district may also be involved in similar misconduct. These individuals allegedly made unauthorised asset purchases and failed to provide supporting documentation for expenditure at committee meetings.
“They are believed to have carried out fund transfers and purchases without the consent or knowledge of other committee members,” the source said.
Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, which relates to abuse of power for personal gain. - April 23, 2025
