A TOTAL of 17.09 percent of the 31,281 registered voters in the Ayer Kuning state constituency had turned out to vote by 10am, according to the Election Commission (EC), as polling for the N.48 Ayer Kuning by-election officially began at 8am.
The EC reported that 19 polling centres comprising 63 channels opened simultaneously across the constituency to accommodate voters.
Of these, 18 polling centres will remain open until 6pm, while one centre, at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Toh Tandewa Sakti, will close earlier at 4pm.
All three candidates in the by-election had cast their votes earlier in the morning. Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mohamad Yusri Bakir voted at SK Sungai Lesong at around 8.40am, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek cast his ballot at SK Ayer Kuning at 8.33am.
Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) candidate Bawani KS was the first to arrive at a polling centre, casting her vote at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Pheng Lok as soon as polling began. - April 26, 2025
