PAKATAN Harapan Secretary-General Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged all quarters to remain calm as speculation continues over whether he will contest in the upcoming Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) party elections this May.

“There are four more days to submit nomination forms, and I will make an announcement soon,” he told reporters during a working visit to the Kelantan police contingent headquarters on Sunday, held in conjunction with the Home Ministry’s Post-Cabinet Meeting.

“Previously, I had a four-hour discussion with Rafizi Ramli about the PKR elections. I’ve also completed meetings and consultations with state leadership and branch chiefs,” he said.

The Home Minister, who has long been active in party politics, added that his years of experience have given him a grounded perspective on political contests.

“As someone who’s been around a long time, I’ve experienced more defeats than victories—and that has taught me many lessons,” he said.

Saifuddin also confirmed he had held two to three separate meetings with PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the matter.

While the original deadline to submit candidacy forms was set for Sunday, it has been extended to 8 May. Saifuddin said he would fully utilise the remaining days before deciding.

“I will use this time to perform *solat sunat istikharah* (a prayer for divine guidance) before making any decision,” he added.

Also present at the press conference were Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat and Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid. - May 4, 2025
