THE Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral trade and economic collaboration between the two countries.

According to a statement from CCC, the agreement was formalised on Tuesday, outlining a strategic framework to promote trade, encourage investment, and enhance economic partnerships.

ACCCIM president Datuk Ng Yih Pyng described the initiative as a key step towards unlocking new business opportunities in Cambodia.

“The main objective of the visit is to explore potential cooperation and promote sustainable events in ASEAN,” Bernama quoted Ng saying.

Bilateral trade between Malaysia and Cambodia amounted to approximately RM3.7 billion (US\$865 million) in 2024. Malaysia’s principal exports to Cambodia include petroleum products, chemicals, textiles, apparel, footwear, metals, and non-metallic mineral products.

CCC vice president Sok Piseth highlighted Cambodia’s favourable conditions for investment, noting the country's demographic advantages and government support.

“There is a close economic relationship between Cambodia and Malaysia, strong trade demand, and Malaysian investment in key sectors,” said Sok. - May 7, 2025
