PARTI Bersama Malaysia de-facto leader Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to order the immediate disclosure of the investigation papers into Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki’s share ownership.
Rafizi said he supported continued investigations and prosecutions against politicians and public servants where there was evidence of criminal breach of trust, but stressed that the credibility of enforcement agencies must be protected to ensure their actions were not perceived as politically motivated.
He said this was particularly important amid political tensions between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).
“I have been following developments in the MACC investigation into Tabung Haji, including the series of arrests involving a former minister yesterday.
“Over the past two weeks, figures from Barisan Nasional have been remanded, detained or charged. I welcome the continued efforts by the authorities to investigate and prosecute any politician or civil servant where there is evidence of criminal breach of trust.
“At the same time, the credibility of institutions such as the MACC, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and other agencies is also very important so that these actions are not perceived as politically motivated,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Rafizi said he feared the political tensions could result in the MACC and other enforcement agencies’ anti-corruption efforts being dismissed as politically motivated.
“Therefore, I urge the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to direct the Chief Secretary to the Government to immediately disclose the investigation papers concerning the share ownership scandal involving Tan Sri Azam Baki, which have already been presented to the Cabinet.
“Given that the case is only disciplinary in nature under the regulations governing civil servants, it should not be kept under wraps — particularly if disclosure of the report could help rebut political attacks that are tarnishing the MACC’s efforts to investigate cases involving Tabung Haji,” he said.
Rafizi said disclosure of the investigation findings would help strengthen confidence in enforcement institutions while addressing allegations that ongoing anti-corruption investigations were politically motivated.
His call comes amid a series of MACC investigations linked to the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry, involving several high-profile individuals who have been remanded, detained or charged in recent weeks. - September 2, 2026
