AT least five vehicles were involved in the abduction of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh and not three as previously reported, said police.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspected vehicles included a Toyota Camry, Nissan Teana, and Nissan Almera.
"Three of the vehicles had used cloned number plates linked to vehicles that were already registered.
“We met with the owners of the vehicles and confirmed that the vehicles were with them and recorded their statements. They also confirmed that the vehicles were with them at the time of the incident," he said.
Rusdi said police believe that Pamela was still alive and that based on immigration records, the victim is also possibly still in the country.
“There are cases where people who have gone missing for a long time but still alive, while some others die even after being missing for a short period.
“But I believe she is still alive,” he said.
He said CCTV footage revealed that three cars intercepted the e-hailing car transporting Pamela on the day of the incident, while two other cars were nearby as a lookout.
He said police managed to track the suspects' movements in Putrajaya through various CCTV cameras after the victim was taken.
"They used two different routes, and we are investigating further where they went after leaving Putrajaya.
"We will conduct a thorough probe from all angles and eliminate them one by one," he said.
He said police are also are exploring the possibility that the entire incident involving Pamela’s disappearance was staged.
On April 9, Pamela, 42, was summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist with an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.
However, she reportedly went missing while on her way to the appointment. Her lawyer lodged a police report regarding her disappearance on the same day.
No ransom demand has been made to date. - May 8, 2025
