AN ILLEGAL U-turn by a Singaporean driver in a Maserati is believed to have caused the death of a motorcyclist at KM0.6 of the Second Link Highway in Iskandar Puteri yesterday.
According to reports, in the 7pm incident, the 31-year-old victim suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

Iskandar Puteri police chief, M Kumarasan said the the 27-year-old Singaporean had made a U-turn at an unauthorised spot to return to the republic.
The red Maserati hit the divider, causing it to be ripped off and debris flying into the opposite lane.
"The motorcyclist on a Honda RS hit the metal pieces, causing him to be thrown onto the road," said Kumarasan.

He said the victim’s motorcycle storage box was also flung into the opposite lane and was hit by two other motorcyclists, a purple Yamaha MT-09 and a Yamaha XMAX 250, but neither rider suffered any injuries.
He said the situation also sparked a commotion when the Maserati driver was attacked and beaten with helmets by several other road users at the location.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving and under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury by use of a weapon. - May 10, 2025
