THE DRIVER of a Singapore-registered vehicle was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with Malaysian policemen on the road leading to Woodlands Checkpoint shortly after midnight on Aug 16.

An eyewitness, Aeric, 40, told Mothership (Singapore) that the incident occurred at about 12.08 am while he was caught in traffic.

However, he said he did not know what triggered the confrontation and nobody seemed to have been injured.

Aeric reportedly said the incident caused some traffic disruption but did not result in any significant congestion as traffic was relatively light at the time.

Videos provided by the eyewitness showed the driver and a policeman arguing before the confrontation turned physical.

The situation escalated when the policeman allegedly threw his motorcycle helmet towards the driver’s face, before landing further away.

The driver then began pushing and kicking the policeman, when another policeman intervened to separate the two men.

The men were eventually escorted away, while several policemen directed traffic into the rightmost lane.

No official statement has since been released about the incident. – August 19, 2026
