AUTHORITIES will implement rolling road closures on six major highways and 25 principal roads across the Klang Valley from Friday, 24 May until 28 May to facilitate the smooth movement of delegates attending the ASEAN Summit.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the closures include key access routes to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Subang, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Istana Negara, and designated hotels.
“The closures will be implemented in stages, each lasting approximately 30 minutes, to allow summit convoys and motorcades to pass through safely,” he said.
Among the affected highways are:
* KLIA Expressway
* ELITE Expressway (KLIA–Putrajaya)
* NKVE (Subang–Jalan Duta)
* Guthrie Corridor Expressway
* PLUS Highway (Sungai Buloh–Jalan Duta)
* MEX Expressway
* KL–Seremban Expressway
* Putrajaya Ring Road
Affected roads in Kuala Lumpur include:
* Jalan Istana
* Jalan Damansara
* Jalan Tun Razak
* Jalan Ampang
* Jalan Sultan Ismail
* Jalan Bukit Bintang
* Jalan Imbi
* Jalan Parlimen
* Jalan Kuching
Intersections near KLCC and Jalan P. Ramlee will be closed at various time slots on 26 and 27 May, including:
* Jalan Ampang–Jalan P. Ramlee
* Jalan Sultan Ismail–Jalan P. Ramlee
* Jalan Perak–Jalan P. Ramlee
* Jalan Perak–Jalan Pinang
* Jalan Stonor–Jalan Kia Peng
* Jalan Stonor–Persiaran KLCC
Additional full-route closures will take place on 27 May (11.45am–1.00pm)
* Jalan Tun Razak
* Jalan Mahameru
* Jalan Sultan Abdul Halim
27 May (1.45pm–3.00pm)
* Jalan Parlimen–Jalan Kuching
* Jalan Sultan Ismail and intersections nearby
Mohd Yusri reminded motorists to avoid parking on closed routes and warned that enforcement action will include towing vehicles to ensure smooth traffic flow.
“Heavy commercial vehicles will also be restricted from entering the city centre between 6.30am and 7.30am, and again from 4.30pm daily, beginning today through to 28 May,” he added.
