OUTGOING Minister of Economy Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has suggested that he has a roadmap prepared for life after government, following his imminent departure but declined to reveal further details.
"I already have a plan on what to focus on next, but let everyone enjoy a peaceful (Hari) Raya Haji and such. I will share more later," he said in a post on X on Friday.
The Pandan MP announced on Wednesday that he had submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, effective 17 June 2025. From that date, he will also begin utilising the remainder of his annual leave, which runs until 16 June.
In the wake of Rafizi’s announcement, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, also tendered his resignation, effective 4 July.
Following the developments, the Prime Minister's Office confirmed that Anwar had received their applications for leave and resignation and had approved both after due consideration.
While on leave, Rafizi said he has been catching up with messages and engaging in online discussions.
"I started my leave on Wednesday. My current mission is to respond to thousands of messages and join conversations on X," he said.
He also reaffirmed his belief in the capacity of ordinary Malaysians to drive national progress.
"The real potential of the country lies in its people. We must harness that potential," he stated.
In the comments section, some users suggested Rafizi create a dedicated account for his pet cats. He responded, saying it would be impossible as it is difficult to capture photos and videos of them.
Others asked for updates on his weight loss journey, to which Rafizi replied that it is a personal and "difficult" process.
afizi Ramli has taken to social media to reconnect with the public as he begins his leave ahead of stepping down as Minister of Economy on 17 June.
"I started my leave on Wednesday. My mission now is to respond to thousands of messages and join the conversation on X," he wrote.
In his remarks, Rafizi underscored his belief in the power of ordinary Malaysians as the foundation of national development.
