No application from Tengku Zafrul to join PKR yet, says party sec-gen
"Each application will go through the usual process," said Fuziah - May 31, 2025

PKR has yet to receive any application from Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz to officially join the party, said its secretary-general, Dr Fuziah Salleh.

In a statement today, she said all applications to join PKR must be submitted online.

"Each application will go through the usual process.

"Once submitted online, it will be processed and then tabled at the Central Leadership Council (MPP) meeting," she said.

A final decision will be made after taking into account various perspectives, including views from partners within the unity government as well as grassroots opinions.

“Meanwhile, I was also informed that Tengku Zafrul will be performing the Hajj and KEADILAN prays for his safe journey and return,” added Fuziah.

Yesterday, Tengku Zafrul, the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister announced that he is leaving Umno and will join PKR.

He said he is vacating his seat on the Umno supreme council as well as his position as its Kota Raja division chief.

“I have submitted my resignation letter to the top leadership of Umno,” he said.

He said the decision was not easy and came after extensive reflection and consultation with colleagues inside and outside the party, including Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He also disclosed that he had informed the PKR leadership of his intention to join the party. – May 31, 2025
