THE Malaysian International Humanitarian Organisation (MHO) has called on the Kelantan Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office to initiate swift legal action against a cooperative allegedly involved in fraudulent investment schemes that have caused financial losses exceeding RM2.27 million.
Speaking at a press conference today, MHO secretary-general Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim said the 26 victims—comprising retirees, senior citizens, and civil servants—had approached the state prosecution office in Kota Bharu to seek urgent intervention.
“The victims came to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office today to appeal for the consideration and discretion of the state Prosecution director to prosecute those responsible without delay,” Bernama quoted him saying.
According to Hishamuddin, the cooperative is suspected of issuing unsecured loans to a number of companies, which were allegedly tasked with organising investment programmes that never materialised.
“The victims also suspect that the 10 types of investment programme organised by the companies that the cooperative appointed were part of a well-orchestrated investment fraud involving various individuals hiding behind the cooperative and private limited companies,” he said.
He added that the victims believe the companies were deliberately established to deceive cooperative members, and that no actual investments took place.
“MHO represents the earnest hopes of the victims that the complaints submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office will receive a positive response,” Hishamuddin said, underscoring the need for accountability and restitution for those affected. - June 3, 2025
