THE technical report into the gas pipeline explosion and fire at Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, which occurred on 1 April, is expected to be completed by 26 June, according to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Speaking after an e-Bike Handover Ceremony at the Selangor Police Contingent headquarters, Amirudin said the findings of the technical investigation will be consolidated with the criminal probe before being made public.
"We cannot release our criminal investigation now because we need to combine it with the technical investigation as there are still areas that need to be identified from the criminal investigation," he said.
The technical investigation, led by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), examines the integrity of the pipeline, ground movement, and whether any surrounding activities may have exerted pressure on the gas infrastructure.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan previously stated on 27 May that both the police and DOSH reports were expected to be released by the end of June. According to Hussein, the police investigation—covering possible negligence or sabotage—had been completed and authorities were now awaiting the technical findings.
The explosion, which occurred at 8.10 am on 1 April, involved a Petronas gas pipeline and resulted in flames reaching over 30 metres high, with temperatures soaring to 1,000 degrees Celsius. It took emergency responders nearly eight hours to extinguish the blaze, which left a crater 9.8 metres deep at the site. - June 3, 2025
