Five-day maritime and aerospace exhibition in Langkawi hailed as most internationally diverse to date

THE 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima 2025) concluded on 24 May with a remarkable RM11 billion in transactions signed, cementing its status as the most internationally represented edition in the event’s history.

Co-organised by Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence (Mindef) and Global Exhibitions & Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC), this year’s event welcomed over 860 companies from 24 countries under the banner “Innovate Today, Thrive Tomorrow”.

The exhibition was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 20 May, with Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin presiding over the closing ceremony.

Throughout the five-day event, thousands of trade and public visitors attended showcases of cutting-edge aviation and naval technologies, alongside nine expert-led conferences exploring themes such as innovation, sustainability and leadership in the maritime and aerospace sectors.

GEC managing director Abd Hafiz Abu Bakar praised the success of Lima 2025, stating: “Success is built on strong pillars — hard work, innovation, learning and unity. By bringing these elements together at Lima 2025, we have created a platform where progress is possible, and opportunities are open to all.”

The next edition of the biennial exhibition, Lima 2027, is expected to continue expanding the event’s global reach and commercial impact. - June 4, 2025
