POLICE have clarified that a woman allegedly assaulted by her employer at an office in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang, on 15 May was already suffering from a pre-existing medical condition requiring surgery, which was unrelated to the incident.
According to Seri Alam District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, hospital findings confirmed that the 34-year-old woman sustained only minor injuries in the incident.
“This woman did indeed have an illness and needed surgery, and it was not related to or caused by the case,” he told reporters at the Johor police headquarters during a monthly contingent gathering today.
He added that the injuries consisted of scratches and bruises and that the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt.
“We have taken this matter to the medical officer and they confirmed that it was a minor injury. So far, the investigation papers have been completed and submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” he said.
The clarification follows viral claims on social media suggesting the woman required hospitalisation and surgery as a direct result of the alleged assault.
Police began investigating the case after a video showing the woman being attacked by her employer inside an office surfaced online. She lodged a police report later the same day at approximately 5.53pm. - June 18, 2025
