SELANGOR recorded a 36 per cent rise in COVID-19 cases during Epidemiological Week 24 of 2025, with 1,082 infections compared to 795 the previous week, according to the State Public Health and Environment Exco Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
Despite the increase, the number of cases remains below the alert level established based on trends from 2022 to 2024 and, importantly, no deaths have been reported.
“In Selangor, a total of 7,582 COVID-19 cases were recorded from ME1 to ME24 of 2025 (ending 14 June), compared to 18,231 cases recorded in the same period in 2024,” Jamaliah said in a statement on Tuesday.
She noted that the Petaling district recorded the highest cumulative number of cases at 2,475, followed by Hulu Langat (1,435), Klang (974), Gombak (927), Sepang (615), Kuala Selangor (499), Kuala Langat (372), Hulu Selangor (148), and Sabak Bernam (137).
“Based on the Selangor State Health Department’s findings, adults aged between 31 and 59 remain the most affected group, accounting for 44 per cent of cases, followed by youths aged 18 to 30 (27 per cent) and children aged one to six years (nine per cent),” she said.
Jamaliah added that 7,582 individuals were screened for COVID-19 across the state this year, with 353 requiring hospital admission.
“In Week 24, one patient—who was pregnant and also diagnosed with dengue—was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but was transferred to a regular ward on 17 June,” she said. - June 24, 2025
